Oswego Library District Seeking Summer Readers

The Oswego Public Library District’s Summer Reading program, Get In The Game…Read, starts on Wednesday, June 1, and continues through Wednesday, August 3. Summer Reading is open to everyone, infants through adults.  Just stop by the Youth, Young Adult, or Adult Services reference desk for your reading log.

This summer the library is offering a wide variety of programs for kids, teens, and adults.  Program flyers listing all of the programs can be found online at or stop by a reference desk for more information.

Youth Services will be hosting a musical performance by Laura Dougherty on July 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Montgomery Campus; this will be a fun event for families with small children.  The library is getting ready for Olympic fever this summer with the Kid Olympics on Wednesday, July 20, at the Montgomery Campus from 1:00-2:30 p.m. for kids ages 5-10.  

If inside events are more your style, plan ahead for the “Finding Dory” movie event at Kendall 10 on Tuesday, June 21, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.  Ask at the Youth Service desk for more information.  Harry Potter fans can stop by the Montgomery Campus on Saturday, July 16, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. for a fun Harry Potter drop in where kids in grades 4-8 can explore the Harry Potter world. 

Young Adult Services will be hosting the Art of Tangling on Saturday, June 11, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the Montgomery Campus, teens in grades 6-12 are welcome to register.   

Looking for something to do after hours at the library? Try our Library After Dark Lock-In on July 23 from 7:00-10:30 p.m. at the Montgomery Campus. Or if game shows are more your style the Minute to Win It game show on June 24 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Oswego Campus will be perfect.

Adult Services is offering Retro Video Games on Saturday, July 16, at the Montgomery Campus from 1:00-3:00 p.m. All eras of video games will be played at this family event.  Shipwreck Tales of the Great Lakes will be presented at the Montgomery Campus on Saturday, August 27, from 1:00-2:00 p.m.  

Adult coloring is the newest sensation; try it out at the Oswego Campus on Tuesday, June 14.   If you are looking for a new book, try one of the many book discussion groups offered by Adult Services.
