Apr 11, 2016 04:32PM ● By Steven Jack
PrairieFest celebrates 28 years of kicking up their heels along the streets of Oswego. This June, the biggest parade in Oswego gets bigger with bands, entertainment, floats, and a Grand Marshall.

In addition to the hometown marching bands, PrairieFest welcomes both the Chicago Bears Drumline and the Royal Airs Drum and Bugle Corps.

We invite groups to join us on Sunday, June 19, at 1pm for this Father’s Day tradition.

Groups are encouraged to fill out their parade applications and check out the How To Build a Float brochure and do some daydreaming of their own! Parade Application Deadline is May 1.

The PrairieFest Parade Committee has created the PrairieFest Judge’s Award. The most dynamic float will earn its place on this traveling cup to be displayed for one year by the winning organization.

Also new, the People’s Choice Award to be presented to that float winning the most votes through social media. Both awards will be presented on the PrairieFest Main Stage before the final band, The Dead River Band performs on the festival’s final day, Sunday, June 19.

New in 2016, the Oswegoland Park District will let the community choose a Grand Marshal to lead the parade. Nominating a local hero is simple. Visit for the nomination form.

Residents of the Oswegoland Park District are asked to nominate someone who: gives back to our community on a regular basis, deserves credit for their good deeds but doesn't always receive it, and is an inspiration toward making our community a better place to live.

As a tribute to their commitment to the community, the winner will earn a seat as the honorary grand marshal for the PrairieFest Parade on June 19. The winner will also receive two VIP passes to the PrairieFest Sip & Savor.

Deadline for all Grand Marshal nominations is May 1, 2016.
