A fire alarm caused students and staff at Thompson Junior High to evacuate the building on Wednesday.
Oswego School District Director of Communications Brian Graves said there was no fire at the school, located at 440 Boulder Hill Pass, and that the incident was being investigated.
“Students are safe and in no danger,” Graves said.
Oswego Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Josh Walters called the incident a false alarm, attributing it to an issue with the school's fire alarm system. He said there was no indication that anyone pulled the alarm.
"(It was) nothing like that," Walters said.
According to reports, students were outside for more than an hour.
Oswego firefighters were in the process of checking the building's fire suppression systems as of 12:55 p.m.
