Get into the Valentine's Day spirit from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. this coming Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 6 and 7, when the Little White School Museum offers “Victorian Valentines,” a free, family make and take craft activity.

The museum is located at 72 Polk Street (Polk at Jackson), just two blocks from Oswego’s historic downtown business district.

Valentine traditions are wide-ranging, but usually involve the exchange of some token or small gift and a Valentine card. At one time, these tokens were hand-made.

During "Victorian Valentines," visitors aged 3 years and up are invited to create their own home-made Valentines similar to ones made in the 1890s. Families are invited to stop in any time between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. either Saturday or Sunday for this free activity. Children must attend with an adult.

While at the museum, visitors are also invited to visit the annual seasonal “Be My Valentine: Greetings from Oswego’s Past” special exhibit in the community museum room featuring vintage Valentine cards, sheet music, 3-D pop-up cards and table decorations and other related items from days gone by. The special exhibit will be available throughout February.

Regular museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. The museum is a joint project of the Oswegoland Heritage Association and the Oswegoland Park District.
