Jan 17, 2016 01:19PM ● By Steven Jack
Thompson Junior High students had the opportunity to put their engineering skills into practice on Jan. 9.

There were four teams that represented Thompson at The
University of Illinois extension's 4-H bridge busting competition at the Fox Valley YMCA in Plano. The bridges were judged on aesthetic design and structural strength.

Chandler Aagesen and Matt Egly took 3rd place in both
categories and  Logan Soares and Alex Wheeler took 2nd place in aesthetics. Students had the opportunity to participate on site for other engineering activities as well as have those in the field present information about their career. It truly was a successful and educational experience for the students.

Individuals who participated were: Team 1: Olivia Berlin, Annabella Knott; Team 2:  Zoe Wareman, Bella Frunzar; Team 3: Alex Wheeler, Logan Soares; Team 4: Chandler Aagesen, Matt Egly.
