Snow Could Snarl Wednesday Morning Commute

Dec 01, 2015 06:08PM ● By Shannon Antinori
Late-night snow showers could make for a messy morning commute Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for counties including Kendall, Kane, Will and Grundy.

Snow showers could develop late Tuesday, possibly mixed with rain initially. According to the National Weather Service, "a band of moderate to briefly heavy snow" may also move across the area during the Wednesday morning commute, causing slushy snow accumulations in some areas and making roads slippery.

Drivers are advised to give themselves extra time during their commutes and drive slowly in winter driving conditions.

A River Flood Advisory also remains in effect for the Fox River in Montgomery until Tuesday, Dec. 8. As of Tuesday morning, the river was at 12.8 feet, just shy of the 13-foot flood stage, which could cause minor flooding near the river, according to the National Weather Service.
