Two people were hospitalized Saturday morning after a 20-foot box truck ran into a house along Route 71 near Paradise Parkway.

According to Oswego Police spokeswoman Cathy Nevara, at about 8:10 a.m. the driver of the truck was traveling westbound along Route 71 when he struck a curb and lost control of the vehicle. The truck then jumped the curb and clipped the side of the home and destroyed a backyard swimming pool.

The truck struck a bedroom of the home, and a 69-year-old resident who was in the bedroom was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries Nevara said. The truck driver also was hospitalized. The driver was identified as William 58 of Lakewood, IL. He has been cited for improper lane usage, Nevara said.

The accident closed Route 71 from Paradise Parkway to Main Street as crews worked to clear the area.
