Oswegoland Park District Youth Triathlon Registration Deadline Approaching

Sep 16, 2015 03:19PM ● By Steven Jack

Sunday September 27, this area celebrates the 9th Have Fun? You Won! Kids Triathlon. The event is a partnership between the Oswegoland Park District and the Oswego School District 308 Physical Education teachers.

Kids in third through sixth grade swim 100 meters, run a half mile, and bike three miles in an afternoon aimed at introducing a healthy new activity for students. The event takes place at Oswego East High School at 11am.

Deadline for participating in the Have Fun? You Won! Kids Triathlon is Friday, September 18.

When it began the Kids Triathlon was one of only 9 events like it in the Midwest region. While triathlons for younger athletes are more common now, being cheered on by their teachers makes the Have Fun? You Won! Triathlon unique.

Last year over 340 athletes participated in the event, and were joined by 50 District 308 staff.

The community gets involved in cheering them on in September as well. The ESP Select Black Boys U11 Baseball team will be at the event hosting a concession stand of healthy options for triathletes and their families.

The triathlon is not continuously timed, which allows participants to experience the excitement of multi event sporting without the anxiety.  The kids participate as individuals or on a team taking on one leg of the triathlon each.

To learn more about the event or to register your athlete before Friday’s deadline, contact the Oswegoland Park District at or call (630) 554-1010.
