Oswego Bears Football Team Presents Game Ball to Recovering Teammate

After their game the Varsity team visited teammate Jordan Carlin at Edward Hospital and presented him with a signed game ball.
Tiny Mites Division
Oswego Bears vs. Joliet Spartans
Oswego Tiny Mites opened the game with great blocking by Ryan Gedman, Zach Gilson, Kashton Wilson, Nolan Robertson and Jonaha Zukauskas allowing Dominic Batista to score on the first play. Aiden Cullen, Austin Martin, Alex Perez Giovanai Garcia and Josh Mathley Provided key defense keeping the Spartans scoreless for the entire game. Cameron Logan, RJ Shields , Vince Herrera, Luke Hernandez and Cody Parker provided a resilient line allowing the Bears to score two more touchdowns before the final buzzer. A great showing by all the Bears Tiny Mite players. The Bears face Bensenville next Sunday at 9 A.M. at Oswego East.
Mighty Mite Division
Mighty Mite(1) vs. Joliet Spartans
Oswego Bears Mitey Mite One face a tough Joilet team. After struggling in the first half the Bears rebounded nicely in the second half. Defense was able to keep the Spartans off the scoreboard and forced a turnover. Offense was able to move the ball both on the ground and in the air. Bears are back in action at home on Sunday at 10 a.m. against Bolingbrook.
Mighty Mite(2) vs. Plainfield
Plainfield proved to be tough opposition for this young Bears team. The defense fought tough at the goal line stopping two extra points. The Bears Matt Gandy seized an opportunity recovering a fumble from the Saints. Aiden Heiden, Tyler Vlcek and Matt Gandy made some great tackles. The Bears will focus this week in practice as Oswego Travels to Genoa this Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
Senior Mighty Mite Vs NW Elite Lions
The Oswego Bears Senior Mitey Mites fell to Northwest Elite Lions 24-6 on Sunday. David Drendel provided the Bears only score with a 3 yard run in the 2nd quarter. Zac Clarke setup up the Drendel TD with a 12 yard run of his own. Drendel also hauled in a 20 yard pass reception.
Christian Martyn led the rushing attack with 12 carries for 90 yards. Nick Tickle, 8 carries for 19 yards and Derek Grodon 2 rushes for 5 yards. Maddox Gerwig and Isaiah Logan led the team with 6 tackles each.
The Oswego Bears return to Oswego East on Sunday October 13th to host the Robbins Cal-Park Eagles at 11:30am.
Junior PeeWee Division
Oswego Bears 13 vs. Joliet Spartans 7
Oswego Bears Junior Pee Wee won for the second straight week and improved their record to 2-0 by defeating the Joliet Spartans 13-7 on Saturday 9/5. The Bears once again came out of the gates running and their offensive line of Alex Magana, Ben McCollum, Connor Mannis, Ardi Qitaku & Nick Gates lead the way. Colin Rowe, Jackson Gillen, Tyler Bibbs & Matt Rodarte were the running backs responsible for all the damage on the ground.
The Bears drove down on the first series of the game and scored on a Matt Rodarte 40 yard touchdown run, Rodarte also converted the extra point. It was a defense battle for a while until the third quarter when the Bears had a 9 minute drive which was capped off by a 5 yard touchdown run by QB Chase Gerwig.
Gerwig was on point at QB in this game completing 6-7 passes for 95 yards. The Bears defense once again dominated, led by Chris Dicosola, Ronan Cornelius, Kian Triplett, Kush Patel, Eric Lewis & Noah Dial. The Bears special teams were strong as well led by kicker Gavin Lee and punter Dan Lawrence. The Bears look to continue their winning ways next Sunday 9/13 at Oswego East High School at 1pm against Bensenville.
Oswego Bears 18 vs. Hoffman Redhawks 0
It was a smash mouth game between the Pee Wee Oswego Bears against Hoffman Estates Red Hawks. The first half was hard fought, but the Bears were fortunate to go into halftime with a 6-0 lead. The offense was methodically managed by Hunter Gibson. Carter Wojcik lead the team in rushing behind a formidable offensive line including Noel Alvarez, Jackson Robertson, Robert Branes, Christian Battista, and Ethan Engleke. The lone first half touchdown was a 15 yard scamper by Wojcik. In the first half the defense was lead by Jordan Logan firing out of his defensive end position making 3 tackles including 2 for loss.
In the second half the Bears came out focused and ready to hit. They scored two more touchdowns by Ethan Cain and Wojcik. Cain scored on a beautifully called double reverse for 15 yards, and Wojcik barreled through the tough Redhawks defense to score from 20 yards out. The defense was stellar lead by Brandon Heffernan and Casey Kruhula. The defense was able to come away with an interception by Darren Oregon and a fumble recovery by Brandon Heffernan and secured the shut out for the second consecutive week. The defense held the Redhawks to 44 total yards. Oswego faces Bensenville Sunday at 2:30 at Oswego East.
Junior Midget Division
Oswego Bears Jr. Midget 0 vs. Robbins Cal Park Eagles 12
The score doesn't reflect the game for the Oswego Bears Jr. Midget team. It was a defensive struggle, but they persevered all game long. Bennett Wojcik, Ricky Jacobsen and Cole Hansen led the defense with multiple tackles in the backfield, pressuring the opposing QB the entire game. Keegan Cullison stopped a punt return and touchdown, stripping the ball and recovering the fumble.
The offense, led by QB Bennett Wojcik, strung together several strong drives into the red zone, unfortunately unable to punch through. Strong offensive performances by Efrain Davila, Luke Matyszka, Keegan Cullison and Michael Walsh. It was a great team effort all around, the entire game played with heart and determination. Oswego plays Bensenville Sunday at 4:00 pm at Oswego East.
Oswego Bears 41 vs. Northshore 0
The Oswego Bears Varsity team had another offensive explosion and an iron defense that led to a 41-0 victory. The opening offensive play today saw Corey Provow running in the first of his three touchdowns of the day. Provow had runs of 30, 55 and a kickoff return of 65 yards opening the second half.
Other touchdowns were scored by Mark Baron with a 30 yard run and David Wilson barreling in from the 10 yard line. Extra points were scored by Provow, Brenden Harkins, Jacob Stack and Sam Wilson. The offensive line was once again fantastic and was led by Alex Ponx, Chris Matias, Alex Becker, Zack Precup, Noah Zukauskas and tight end Brenden Harkins.
The defense was again led by Sam Wilson who had another standout performance on defense with a 45 yard pick six for a touchdown. Other standouts on defense were Corey Provow and Sam Wilson with 6 tackles each, Mark Baron, Otto Hess, Noah Zukauskas, Zack Precup, Alex Becker, Dominic Gallo, Jacob Stack, Nick Connelly and the rest of the defensive team. It was a true team performance and victory.
After the game the Varsity team visited teammate Jordan Carlin at Edward Hospital and presented him with a signed game ball. Jordan had emergency surgery on a ruptured appendix last week. The Bears face Hampshire Sunday at 5:30 at Oswego East.
