Lori Ott opened Sage Spice Shop in downtown Oswego in 2013.
Describe your business: The old maxim says to take everything with a grain of salt. There are so many other spices that can add variety to your everyday routine. We have hand picked our herbs & spices so our customers will have the freshest hand mixed blends. We make all of our blends in house and in small batches.
One of our favorite things to do for our customers is to make custom blends to suit their needs. A little gem we carry that many people don't realize is we have a nice variety of loose leaf teas and tea blends. We also carry many accessories for teas and your kitchen. We also carry vanillas and extracts along with a few olive oils and balsamics. If anything stop in and enjoy the aroma of our store. You'll fall in love with it!
Why did you start your own business? I started Sage for my love of cooking. I was driving to Geneva for a part time job (that I loved) but was spending all my pay check on gas. That's when I got the idea to open the store. My dream will be one day to offer cooking classes for our customers.
Tell us something unique about your business Our herbs and spices are not what you get in the grocery store! Use them once and you'll wonder why you hadn't stopped in before. Fresh and full of flavor! We also offer any amount from 1oz to 20 pounds. We sell to your needs.
What's the best part of owning your own business? I love seeing people get excited about all the different flavors that we offer. The joy on their faces and the happiness in their bellies makes owning my own business very fulfilling. I enjoy going to work everyday.
