Oswego Police Explorers Participate in Conference

The Oswego Police Explorers Post 3525 participated in the 2015 Illinois Law Enforcement Explorers Conference held Aug. 2 to 7 at Lewis University in Romeoville, along with over 30 other law enforcement Posts from across the state.

The Posts competed in various scenarios such as evidence processing, building searches, domestic violence, felony suspect arrests and courtroom testimony. The Oswego Police Post 3525 took 1st place in courtroom testimony.

When not involved in scenarios, Explorers participated in daily physical training exercises, played team sports and received leadership mentoring. Explorers were supervised by Sgt. Shane Yackley, who also had the chance to compete in exercises against other advisors. He secured 2nd place in the obstacle course.

The Oswego Police Explorers Post is open to 14 - 20 year old area students who are interested in exploring law enforcement as a career. They currently meet twice a month at the Oswego Law Enforcement Center and receive professional instruction and mentoring from members of the Oswego Police Department.
