Registration Now Open for 28th Annual Park District Triathlon

Jul 17, 2015 08:07AM ● By Steven Jack

The Oswegoland Park District is urging people throughout the community to “Give it a Tri” with the 28th annual I Tried a Triathlon on Sunday, August 2. After a 250 yard pool swim, 6 mile bike leg and a 2 mile run, everyone crosses the finish line feeling good about their accomplishment.

This short distance sprint event is great opportunity for anyone looking to experience a multi-sport event. First time athletes will appreciate the event’s snake swim in the Civic Center pool, a less stressful alternative to a triathlon’s chaotic start. The I Tried a Triathlon distances are easy to tackle for all ages.

The I Tried a Triathlon is an enjoyable morning to mix up an athlete’s training, try something new for someone who never considered themselves an athlete, or to enjoy as a family or group of friends. Children under 13 are welcome to participate as long as an adult participates with them.

The Triathlon is held at the Oswegoland Park District’s Civic Center Aquatic Park, 5 Ashlawn Avenue in Montgomery. A limited field of participants will begin the day at 8am where a continuous clock times them as they swim, bike, then run to the finish. There are athletes of every age and ability working to become just a little better than they were at the starting line.

The $30 Pre-Registration savings ends on July 23rd.  Race day Registration will begin at 6:30am on Sunday, August 2 for a $45 entry fee. For more information on the I Tried A Triathlon, contact Amy Walters at (630) 554.4445 or
