Oswego Police are releasing few details surrounding an attempted kidnapping of an adult female over the weekend on Madison Street near downtown.

According to Cathy Nevara, OPD media relations officer, police officers were dispatched at about 4:20 p.m. Sunday for a report of an attempted abduction.

A 38-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and is being held pending charges from the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s office, Nevara said. The suspect is known by the adult female victim, Nevara said.

When asked to substantiate reports the man was armed, Nevara said he was not taken into custody with a weapon. However, police are still investigating that part of the case, she said.

“This is an ongoing investigation, and there’s not much we can release at this point,” Nevara said.

Nevara said police will release more information as it becomes available.
