Heavy Storms Possible for Kendall County Monday

UPDATE 4:25 PM MONDAY: A tornado watch has been issued for all of northern Illinois through 11 p.m. Monday.

UPDATE 11 AM MONDAY: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued through 3 pm.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Monday for most of northern Illinois, including Kendall County.

According to a NWS bulletin, hazards possible for today include:
  • Damaging winds in excess of 70mph
  • Golf-ball size hail
  • Heavy rain
  • Frequent cloud to ground lightning
  • Possible tornados 
The timing of the storms is predicted for the late morning to early afternoon and mid- to late-evening hours. The chance for thunderstorms during the day is list as 30 percent. The chance for severe weather for Monday evening is listed at 60 percent by the NWS.

A flood advisory for the Fox River at Montgomery continues through noon today with the river measured at 12.5 feet as of 7 p.m. Sunday. Flood stage is 13 feet.
