IDOT to Move Ahead This Week With Previously Delayed Paving Project

Jun 16, 2015 05:27PM ● By Steven Jack

UPDATED 5:15 P.M. TUESDAY: IDOT announced late Tuesday afternoon contractors will proceed as originally planned with a large-scale concrete paving project along Route 71, starting at 5 a.m Wednesday.

IDOT had announced plans Monday to delay the start of the project until Monday, June 22, after the conclusion of PrairieFest. Recent rainfall was cited as the reason for the previously announced delay.

Crews will begin placing concrete pavement along Route 71 from Orchard Road to just east of Main Street Wednesday morning and will work into the evening hours. Large trucks entering and leaving the work zone will cause significant delays.

Village Public Works Director Jennifer Hughes said the work could be complete by the end of the day Wednesday.

Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes.
