We took on a challenge this summer, as a community. The Oswegoland Park District was aiming to get everyone in town moving on a Monday.  We set up two courses and were ready to track the efforts. Our goal was modest; we wanted to see 201.5 miles this summer.

On June 1, over 150 people showed up to move their way toward that goal.  The Oswegoland area went all out to make their miles count and logged 341 miles on the inaugural night!  What a launch! People of all ages and abilities showed up to walk, run or wheelchair their choice of 1 mile or 3 miles. There were strollers and dogs, couples and siblings, friends and families all challenging themselves to be better than they were when they arrived.

Given the amazing response from the community, the Oswegoland Park District is upping the ante. The new summer goal for Monday Miles Community Challenge is 2015 miles! This is a lofty goal, and we had reservations to set it initially. However, in the words of Oswego participant, Crystal Robinson, “2015 miles? Of course we can do it! No problem. Dream big and we'll all help you get there!!! After all, that's what "community" is all about and this is OsWEgo!”  So, let’s do this!

We invite this whole area to help us log 2015 miles this summer.  The Oswegoland Park District will be there every Monday at 6:30 pm night at Prairie Point Park. We have marked one mile and three mile courses. Our staff will log your miles, get you started, and be waiting for you at the finish. We have a clock so you can look for your personal best, but it isn’t about the time, it is about getting out there. Each night is $2/per participant. Get out there 6 times to earn your Monday Miles t-shirt come August.

This past Monday was a great way to spend a beautiful June evening. The finish line was filled with proud smiles from people all across town. We’ll meet you there this Monday!
