The community is invited to a retirement open house for longtime Thompson Junior High special education school teacher Julie Sippel.

Sippel has taught in District 308 for 35 years with 34 of those spent at Thompson.

"Julie Sippel’s 35 year career has enabled her to make a difference in the lives of thousands of special education students," said Thompson Principal Shannon Lueders. "She has been a true advocate for students and their families, ensuring that their voices were heard. Her classroom was a safe haven where learning was individualized and needs were addressed."

The open house is scheduled from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Monday, May 18, in the Thompson Junior High multipurpose room.
