A Montgomery woman was hospitalized Monday morning after walking into traffic and being struck by a car on Wolf's Crossing Road.

According to Oswego Police, the 18-year-old woman was distracted while using her mobile phone when she walked into the road near Oswego East High School, and was struck by a car driven westbound by a 62-year-old Montgomery woman. The driver tried unsuccessfully to avoid the woman, police said.
According to one witness, several motorists stopped to help the woman who was lying injured in the middle of the road.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Rush-Copley Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and her passenger were uninjured, police said.

Wolf's Crossing Road was closed between Harvey and Roth roads for about 25 minutes as police investigated the accident. The pedestrian was ticketed for failure to yield-pedestrian, and the driver did not receive any tickets, police said.
