Tuscan Tavern will open by the beginning of July in the former location of Hao Sushi in the Washington Square strip center.
Another new restaurant is set to open in Oswego at a location that was most recently a sushi spot.
Tuscan Tavern will serve regional Italian cuisine at the former location of Hao Sushi in Washington Square near the intersection of Route 71 and Washington Street. Hao Sushi closed last fall after less than a year in business.
Chef JoRocco Sisto will run the Tuscan Tavern kitchen. He said his family plans to open the restaurant by the beginning of July.
“We’re very excited about coming to Oswego,” Sisto said. “We know the area is ready for something like this, and we’re putting 100 percent of our focus on this new location.”
The Sisto family has run several restaurants in the Chicago area in the past 20 years, including most recently Gratto Italian Tapas in Geneva. Gratto announced last weekend via its Facebook page their Third Street location would be closing.
In addition to regional Italian cuisine, Tuscan Tavern also will feature wood fired pizzas, pig roasts on Fridays, fine wines and a selection of craft beers.
Sisto said he’s been busy for the past week working to completely remodel the inside of the location.
“The only thing we’re keeping from the old place is the bar,” he said. “Otherwise, this will be all new.”
