Letter: Selmer Pledges to Stabilize Taxes

Apr 01, 2015 04:12PM ● By Steven Jack
Tuesday, April 7th is Election Day and I am asking for your vote.

This past week, I said goodbye to a longtime widow retiree friend of mine who is moving from Oswego to Indiana where there are lower property taxes and sales taxes and where she no longer has to fear opening her property tax bill wondering how she will pay for it.  She and I love living in Oswego, but unfortunately our investments are becoming depleted due to taxation.  Ironically, as I travel door to door visiting with our residents I hear the same story from young couples with student loans and couples with kids in college, while observing the number of homes that have realtor lock boxes on them due to residents who have left town.

As your next Village Trustee I pledge to stabilize taxes through frugal spending, support business growth without taxpayer liability and keep the 'public' in public service.  Our community offers so much potential.  It's been a long time since we have had a senior citizen retiree serve on our Village Board.  I would be honored to have your vote and represent your interests for our vibrant community.  I will be your voice.  Please vote for Trustee candidates Diane Selmer, Rasma Motykowski and Write-In candidate James Marter as well as Tony Giles for Village President. We all stand ready to serve you.

Diane Selmer (Candidate for Oswego Village Trustee)
