Oswego Scout Nick D’Argo is working to help local needy families get their veggies.
D’Argo, a freshman at OHS, is in the midst of a fundraising effort to complete a 30- by 50-foot community garden at Oswego Presbyterian Church that will supply the Kendall County Food Pantry with its harvest. The campaign is Nick’s Eagle Project.
“The garden will include 18 raised beds and will be located on the property of the Oswego Presbyterian Church,” Nick wrote in Facebook a message. “The cost of the project is $9,250 and, to date, I have already raised $5,000. I am hoping to complete my fundraising by May 1.”
In addition to monetary donations, NIck is also searching for local businesses who may be able to donate red cedar lumber, split rail fencing, garden dirt, crushed limestone, galvanized rabbit guard fence, burlap, and/or one-half inch PVC tubing.
To contribute to Nick’s project, mail donations to Oswego Presbyterian Church at 1976 Route 25, Oswego, IL 60543 (please write Nick D’Argo name in the memo line).
Local businesses wishing to contribute can call 630-554-7449 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
