This March, Oswegoland Park District offers its own spin on March Madness with the Big Pig Mother Son Tournament.

Saturday, March 14 moms and their boys will team up in this game of shooting accuracy. While the games produce more laughter than competition, it is a fun night to share between a parent and child.  The double elimination tournament promises two games to each team.

Big Pig features the skilled as well as the lucky shots of sons aged 6 through 18 and their moms. For the fourth year in a row, ballers who are usually filled with NBA hoop dreams make room on the court for their mothers. Some of the event’s most interesting achievements are the unplanned baskets that circle the rim and happily drop through the net to the surprise of everyone.  The winning team is often the couple who has the most of those fortunate field goals each game!

So, after a month of daddy-daughter events, the Oswegoland Park District invites Mom and her best boy to take to the court.  Mother-son duos have the chance to win the Grand Prize of Chicago Bulls tickets in two age categories.

Open shooting begins at 5:30 in the Fox Chase gym with a 6:00 tournament start time. Early rounds of the tournament are closed to the public.  The Championship game will be open to all at 8:30pm.

Don’t worry if you spell P-I-G because the contests don’t end there.  Following the Championship game, the Moms battle it out for the Best Slamming Mama in Oswegoland with the springboard-assisted dunk contest.  Boys will follow with their own duck contest.  The winners of these highlight reel worthy contests receive gift cards to local businesses.

Plan on shooting out the lights on Saturday, March 14! Every player registered by March 5th gets a Big Pig tourney t-shirt. All registration closes at 4:30pm March 12th to ensure the brackets are ready for competitors.
