Oswego Police are investigating shots fired near the Prescott Mill subdivision early Sunday morning.

According to police, they  were called to the area of Wolf’s Crossing Road and Devoe Drive at about 5:45 a.m. for a report of multiple shots fired. Upon investigation, police found five or six shell casings that were shot from a handgun, said Oswego Police Chief Jeff Burgner.

The shells were found on the shoulder of the road at Wolf's Crossing and Devoe, Burgner said. After inspecting several nearby homes, police said there is no indication that any bullets entered any residences.

"It sounds like from our preliminary investigation that they may have been shooting an animal that was in the area," said Police Chief Jeff Burgner. "We did find some animal tracks in the area where they were shooting."

Burgner also stated police have not responded to any previous calls in the area in the past few months that would lead him to believe that this incident stemmed for an ongoing dispute.

"We haven't had any significant issues in that subdivision in the past few months," Burgner said.

No one was injured in the incident, and police currently have no suspect information, Burgner said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 630-551-7300.
