Lainey Hallick is a Kid Who Cares

Jan 30, 2015 09:10AM ● By Steven Jack

Name: Lainey Hallick

Grade: 4

School: Prairie Point

What makes her a Kid Who Cares: Several years ago Lainey decided that rather than collect birthday presents at her party, she would collect donations to an organization.

After researching her options, she decided to partner with the Two Rivers Head Start agency in Yorkville. For her third and fourth birthday parties, she collected over $800 in new and gently used books.

For her sixth birthday, she collected over $400 in sweatpants, socks and undergarments for the organization and for her ninth birthday she collected over $300 in crayons, markers, glue and various art supplies.

By giving back to those less fortunate, Lainey has learned many valuable lessons. She is approaching her 10th birthday in the spring and has already asked what we should be collecting and to whom she should donate.

She has also inspired her younger brother to collect donations at his birthday party for Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital downtown Chicago.
