Each year the Oswego Fire Protection District awards two $500 scholarships.

The application period is now open and applications are due April 30. Two outstanding seniors will be chosen to receive a $500 scholarship to be used at an institution of higher learning.

Applications and Guidleines can be found at or picked up at Oswego Fire Station #1 at 3511 Woolley Road.

The OFPD scholarships are given in honor of a member of the District that has shown
exemplary service to the people of the community. This year, Brad Smith is being honored.  He dedicated his life to serving the people of our District in many capacities.  He started his career in 1966 and served as a volunteer firefighter for 45 years.

He moved up
through the ranks first as a Lieutenant, then Captain, Assistant Chief and finally as Fire Chief. He served as Fire Chief for 19 years before retiring.

Anyone with questions is asked to contact Capt. John Cornish at 630-554-2110.
