Police Warn of Another Telephone Scam

Dec 18, 2014 07:59AM ● By Steven Jack
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office has become aware of another scam targeting area residents
that is a variation of the on-going jury duty scam.

Today, the Sheriff’s Office took a report from
an area resident who received a voice message that they missed jury duty from an individual who claimed to be Capt. Robert Hovins from the Kendall County Warrants Division.

The resident
did not call the number left on the voice message and did not suffer any financial loss. The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office does not have the rank of Captain nor is there a Warrants Division within the Sheriff’s Office.

Also, as a reminder, the Kendall County Jury Commission
will never ask for payment or credit card information for a missed jury date. If you receive one of these calls, do not call back or send money to anyone.

If citizens have received a similar call,
they are urged to contact their local police agency, and to file an online report with the Federal Trade Commission at

The non-emergency number for law enforcement services in Kendall County is 630-553-5856.
