Oswego Robotics and Oswego District 308 will be hosting a FIRST LEGO League qualifying tournament on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Oswego East High School.

Opening Ceremony begins at 9:00 am
with robot competitions being held from 9:30 am through 3:00 pm. This inaugural event for Oswego School District 308 is one of 33 FIRST LEGO League qualifiers being held in the State of Illinois.

The Junior FIRST LEGO League Expo will also be taking place from 12-3 during the event. Featuring projects designed by students in grades 1-3.

The FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program introduces students in grades 4 through 8 to real-world
engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface.

FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society. Seven of the 16 teams that will compete are affiliated with District 308 elementary and junior high schools. Four teams will advance to one of our two Illinois State championships.

As part of community outreach, participating teams have been asked to bring canned goods for the
Kendall County Food Pantry. Also teams are collecting aluminum tabs from soda and juice cans as part of an Illinois-wide FIRST community outreach program with Ronald McDonald Charities.

There is no admission to this event, but if you bring a canned good to the event, you will receive a raffle ticket for each item donated for a chance to win 1 of 3 special LEGO raffle baskets. If you have questions, please contact Diane Cabiness at
