Most kids love sitting on Santa Claus' knee to recite their carefully crafted Christmas wish list.

But for others, the very sight of Old Saint Nick can cause great fear. So, maybe a phone call would be better.

For the first year, the Oswegoland Park District is hosting its Santa on the Line event in which the Jolly Old Elf will call children to discuss their Christmas wishes over the phone.

"This is an event that we have seen other park districts do," said Cori Veverka, Park District cultural arts supervisor. "Last year, Michael Leali (a Limelight and Special Events staff member) and I helped out with this event in Downers Grove. Michael loved it so much that he wanted to bring it here to Oswego."

After registering for the event, parents will receive a survey form Santa in their email with questions about the child receiving the call. Santa will use this information "jog his memory" about each child.

"Santa always knows if you have been naughty or nice, but he appreciates it when parents can help out with a few reminders," Veverka said.

Registration is open through Dec. 10 and the surveys are due back Dec. 12. Santa will call between 6 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Cost for this event is $3, and is open to Oswegoland Park District residents only.
