For over 30 years the Oswegoland Park District has hosted the community’s annual Gobbler Hobbler 10K and Mashed Potato Mile. The race kicks off with the 10K on Sunday, November 9 at 8:30am just across the park from Fox Chase Elementary School, 260 Fox Chase Drive North.
The 10K race is a beautiful run over the Fox River then up and down the river’s shoreline. Runners can compete in 24 age divisions or by weight in one of six different weight divisions, if they prefer. Gobbler Hobbler trophies are given to first, second, and third place finishers in each division. The overall Male and Female 10K winners receive a trophy and a turkey to place on their Thanksgiving table this year.
The Mashed Potato Mile will begin their race at the same start line as the 10K this year. The race will get started as soon as the 10K runners are off at 8:30am. New this year, the Mashed Potato Mile will be chip-timed. The Oswegoland Park District will have a trophy for first Overall Finisher, and piping hot mashed potatoes for the first male and female across the finish line.
Everyone in both races will receive a finishers ribbon as well as the event’s signature Walking Pancakes to fill runner bellies. Additionally, each runner receives a raffle for a Thanksgiving Turkey. The Gobbler Hobbler will feature Physician’s Immediate Care at the race day first aid station.
The Oswegoland Park District is still looking for volunteers to help as event course marshals and flipping those famous flatcakes. If you can help out for a couple of hours at the event, please contact Christine Hartnett at email@example.com or call Christine at (630) 554-4445.
The race is a value with a pre-registration fee of $30 for the Gobbler Hobbler 10K and $18 for the Mashed Potato Mile. To capture these savings and get your guaranteed orange event hoodie, participants must register by this Friday, October 31. Pre-registration also enables you to pick up your bib number and hoodie at Oswego Cyclery, 26 South Main Street on Saturday, November 1 from 11am – 1pm or Thursday, November 6 from 5-7pm.
Registration is taken at the www.oswegolandparkdistrict.org or through www.signmeup.com. Race Day registration will also be available beginning at 7:30am on Sunday, November 9. For more information, call the Oswegoland Park District at (630) 554-1010.
