A man is in custody after Oswego Police responded to a report of an armed home invasion in the 400 block of Majestic Lane at about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, the man fled the area on foot, and as a result four schools in the area were put on lockdown. Those schools were Churchill Elementary, Plank Junior High, Oswego East High School and Brokaw Early Learning Center.

The man, who police have yet to name, was tracked down a short time later to a home in the 300 block of McGrath Drive, and was taken into custody at about 2:15 p.m., police said. Schools were taken off lockdown at 1:56 p.m.

Oswego Police Capt. Jeff Burgner said original reports of shots being fired during the incident could not be substantiated. The resident of the Majestic Lane home did report the man was armed; however, police did not find a weapon in his possession when he was taken into custody.

Burgner said a realistic looking BB handgun was recovered at the home on McGrath Drive.

There are no reports of any injuries to the resident of the Majestic Lane home, police said.

Police continue to investigate the incident, and will release more information as it becomes available.
