Masked Gunmen Break Into Adams Street Apartment: Police

Sep 28, 2014 08:23AM ● By Steven Jack

Oswego Police are investigating an armed home invasion that occurred in the 100 block of North Adams Street late Saturday night.

According to police, two men with handguns and wearing masks broke into an apartment at about 11:10 p.m. Police said the incident was not random, and the intruders were searching for something.

"Right now we're still investigating this, so I don't want to speculate on what they were searching for, but they were looking for something," said Oswego Police Capt. Jeff Burgner.

Police said the suspects fled the area before they arrived, and a Kendall County Sheriff's Office K9 was used to search the area. No one was injured in the incident, police said.

A 19-year-old woman was the only occupant of the apartment, and Burgner said she was house-sitting for a relative.

"We don't have any indication that (the woman) knew the offenders," Burgner said.

The victim is cooperating with the police investigation, he said.

Police have no other suspect information at this time.
