More than 7,000 area residents in need visit the Kendall County Food Pantry every month, and soon Community Unit School District 308 will have the chance to help.

Later this month schools in the district will have the opportunity to participate in the first annual food drive for the Kendall County Food Pantry from Sept. 22 to October 3.

The winners of the food drive will be determined by the number of items collected at each school. There will be winners declared at the elementary level, junior high level and high school level.

Donation boxes will be available in the elementary schools from Sept. 22 to Oct. 1. They will be available in the junior highs and high schools from Sept. 22 to Oct. 2. Fans attending the Oct. 3 OHS vs. OEHS Crosstown Classic football game will receive a raffle ticket for each can of food they bring and a chance to win prizes announced throughout the game.

The community can show their school support while giving to a good cause too. OnSunday, September 21 boxes will be placed at local businesses, giving residents the opportunity to place food in an orange box to support Oswego High School, or a silver box to support Oswego East High School.
