DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse plans to build a new store in Oswego.

Vijay Gadde, the village's economic development director, announced at Tuesday night's Village Board meeting that the company will build a 16,000-square-foot location south of the current Best Buy store in the Prairie Market shopping center.

"This will be a great fit because Oswego shoppers have said they are looking for more variety along the Route 34 corridor," Gadde said.

Along with name-brand designer shoes, DSW sells handbags and accessories. The company operates 400 stores across the country and in Puerto Rico.

Tuesday night's announcement was the second piece of good news for the village's economic development department this week, as popular Chicago pizza chain Lou Malnati's said they plan to open an Oswego location in mid-2015.
