Mini Abe visits Cloud Gate in Millennium Park.
You’ve likely seen the TV commercials with a mini Abraham Lincoln figure traveling all across the state.
The spots for Illinois’s Office of Tourism are meant to showcase all that that state has to offer visitors and residents alike. Later this month Mini Abe, as he’s known, will appear in Oswego, traveling all over town.
Tia Brooks, the village of Oswego’s Tourism Bureau assistant, said the much-sought-after Mini Abe will be in the village for about a week before he moves on to his next destination.
“He is on quite a long waiting list,” she said. “I requested him last December, and after a eight month wait he will finally arrive on Aug. 15.”
Brooks said Mini Abe will appear at the upcoming Art of Oswego festival Sunday, Aug. 17 and the Twist N Shout Mom's Day Out the following day. Both events take place on Main Street.
He’ll also make his way around to many Oswego business and tourist destinations.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase all the great businesses and attractions we have to offer and I am excited to show Oswego off,” Brooks said.
Residents will be able to follow Mini Abe’s travels around town on the Oswego Tourism Bureau’s Facebook page.
