Construction Beginning on Oswego Library Addition

Construction on the $5 million addition to the downtown branch of the Oswego Public Library District will begin this weekend.

According to the district's Facebook page, the youth services department will be closed all weekend, as will the audio book and compact disc sections. The rest of the library will remain open, including the popular children's DVD collection.

Participants in the Summer Reading program should still check in their logs at the library, and remember that Sunday, Aug. 3 is the final day to receive prizes.

During construction, about 4,000 square feet will be added to the first floor in the children's wing with a new program room and learning area for preschoolers.

An 8,700-square-foot second story is also being added. The upstairs will include more room for teens and a meeting room with enough space for 50.
