Plank Junior High Principal James Martin

Plank Junior High School will have a new face among its top leadership for the 2014-15 school year.
The Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education approved Frankfort resident James Martin for the position on Wednesday, July 30.

Martin served as an assistant superintendent of School District 161, a K-8 district in Frankfort, Ill prior to taking this position. He also served as principal at Liberty Junior High School in Burbank, Ill. Before that, he held assistant principal positions at Summit Junior High School, Frankfort, and Central Middle School, Tinley Park, Ill.
“Mr. Martin is an experienced and talented administrator who can come into School District 308 and lead from day one,” said Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Dr. John Sparlin. “His passion is to return to the school environment and directly work with students. We are excited to have him join us.”
Martin has a master’s degree in educational administration from Governor’s State University, University Park, Ill., and a bachelor’s degree in history from North Central College, Naperville, Ill.
Martin will replace Jamie Max, who was recently promoted to School District 308 Director of Secondary Education.
“I just want to continue the positive growth at Plank over the years,” Martin said. “I look forward to getting to know the community. It is a tremendous opportunity, and I look forward to being there.”
