Oswego Village Trustee Gail Johnson announced her candidacy for Village President Thursday.

Johnson was first elected to the board in 2011. Developing Oswego's riverfront opportunities will be a focus of her campaign, Johnson said.

“The riverfront offers unique and awesome recreational opportunities—both passive and active," she said. "The time is now to partner with other agencies to ensure that this resource is here for us and future generations to enjoy. Whether you want to stroll along a pristine path or view the river from a table for two on the patio of your favorite restaurant, Oswego’s stretch of the Fox River is to be cherished."

The next municipal election occurs April 7, 2015.

Johnson is founder and president of Face to Face Communications and Training. She has a master’s degree in communication from Northern Illinois University.

The Friends of Gail Johnson for Oswego Village President will hold a campaign kick-off from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6  at Fox Valley Kickers Club, 1015 Harvey Road, Oswego. The public is welcome.
