Fire Protection District Awarding Scholarships

Jul 21, 2014 01:08PM ● By Steven Jack
The Oswego Fire Protection District is seeking two worthy recipients of $500 scholarships.

The OFPD scholarships are given in honor of a member of the District that has shown exemplary service to the people of the community we serve.

This year, Jim Detzler is being honored. He dedicated his life to serving the people of the District in many capacities. He was a volunteer firefighter from 1961-1988. During that time he became the Fire Chief in 1968 and held that position for 20 years.

Detzler remained associated with the Fire District and was later appointed as a Board of Trustee. He became the Board President and held that position until his retirement from the District in 2011.

The OFPD would like to honor Jim Detzler by awarding two $500 scholarships to two recent graduates that will be pursuing a degree in the fall of 2014.

Applications and Guidelines can be printed at or picked up at Oswego
Fire Station #1 located at 3511 Woolley Road.
