An Oswego family is need of support after an electric fire earlier this month all but destroyed their home.
Kristen Rich and CJ Reyes and their four children were not injured in the May 8 fire off Route 31, but they have lost nearly everything they own. According to an online donation page set up for the family, the day of the fire also was the 12th birthday of their eldest daughter.
Besides money, donations of children's clothing and toys are also needed in the following sizes/ages:
- 12-year-old girl size 14-16
- 9-year-old girl size 10-12
- 7-year-old girl size 7
- 7-year-old boy size 8-10
Southbury Elementary, where the kids attend or have attended school, also is holding a PJ fundraising day Wednesday. Students will be allowed to where pajamas to school in exchange for a $1 donation.
Despite their difficulties, the family gave public thanks via the donation page to the firefighters that were able to save many family memories from ruin.
“An extra shout-out to the Oswego, Plainfield, Bristol-Kendall, and Montgomery Fire Departments for responding and putting out the blaze. Everyone was so courteous. As they were walking through the house to put out the blaze they were even taking picture frames and scrapbooks off the walls and placing them under tarps. Thank you all for doing what you do every day.”
