State Superintendent of Education Dr. Christopher Koch visited Grande Park Elementary on Tuesday to recognize the school for being placed on the 2013 Illinois Honor Roll.
Community Unit School District 308 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matthew Wendt commended the students for their hard work and achievement.
“We need to come together and celebrate the academic achievement that you folks have demonstrated,” he told Grande Park students on Tuesday. “Keep up the good work, congratulations, and job well done.”
The Honor Roll lists 177 schools from 99 public school districts across the state. It is divided into three categories – Spotlight Schools, Academic Excellence, and Academic Improvement.
Grande Park received an Academic Improvement Award, documenting substantial improvement.
