The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer is no walk in the park.

The fundraiser asks participants to walk at least a full marathon over the course of two days. Oswego residents and mother and daughter team Laurie Such and Jen Eichorst are up for the challenge though, and are in the midst of fundraising for the Chicago event, which will take place May 31 to June 1.

This is Such's second time participating, and her daughter's first. They go by the team name Boot, Scoot & Booby.

"As soon as I mentioned it to Jen that I had the feeling I should do it again she was on board," Such said in an email.

Training for the event has required a lot of patience and support from loved ones, but Such said everyone is on board.

"To this day Jen and (other daughter, Cathy) talk about the pride and overwhelming emotion that came over them as they watched the closing ceremonies and knew that their mom had finished the walk and was a part of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer," Such said.

Team Boot, Scoot and Booby has a fundraising goal of $3,600, and so far they've brought in about $1,100. To help with their campaign, the pair have organized an open house fundraiser set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at 95 Wilmette Road in Oswego.

The event will include raffles, drawings and a bags tournament. See the .pdf file attached to this article for more information on the fundraiser.

Those that would like to donate to the cause, can do so at the team's fundraising page found here.
