It's official.

National craft retailer Hobby Lobby will be opening a store in Oswego later this year in the former home of Lowe's on Route 34, the village of Oswego confirmed Monday.

In a statement from the Oswego Chamber of Commerce, the village said the store will employ 35-50 employees, paying them any where from $9.50 (part-time) to $14 per hour. The store will open in late 2014.

"This culminates a one-year marketing effort by Oswego Economic Development staff in assisting Lowe's Realty in finding potential buyers and tenants," the statement said. "Crafts and home décor stores were one of the targets because market data shows Oswego residents have to go outside of the community to buy items from these types of stores."

Lowe's closed in Oswego in October 2011 along with 18 other locations nationwide. About 95 employees were left out of work with the closing.
